How organizations can help educate voters about Ranked Choice Voting

If you are a community organization or business interested in helping educate voters about the Ranked Choice Voting elections in Minneapolis this fall, there are many ways you can help!

  • ·Add a Ranked Choice Voting is coming Nov 3rd button to your website and links to the City of Minneapolis and FairVote Minnesota websites.
  • Post ranked-choice election updates and write articles on your website and newsletters.
  • Invite FairVote Minnesota or the City of Minneapolis to present at a board or membership meeting or constituent gathering.
  • Hang a “How to Vote” poster in your office (when available)
  • Host an educational event with a ranked-choice demo election (anything goes on the ballot). We’ll help coordinate the election and provide a speaker. We’ll collaborate on planning, too, if you want. Lyndale Neighborhood Association took the lead in hosting a demo election at their annual meeting: http://fairvotemn.org/node/1283
  • Host an on-line demo election for your members. FairVote MN can provide the voting tool, you just need to decide the “best of” election – best ice cream shop, best neighborhood cafe, best tacqueria, best boutique, best pizza, best wine bar, best gubernatorial candidate, whatever!
  • Have a movie fest and elect the best movie(s). Did you know that the Oscar nominees are selected using Ranked Choice?
  • Recruit volunteers to help at events and farmers’ markets, be a part of the Speakers Bureau or host house parties.
  • Elect your board or officers a la ranked choice voting.
  • Help Get-Out-The-Vote during election week – distribute door hangers, contact your constituents, etc.
  • Create your own idea!
